One of the founders of BDO in Poland was Dr. Andre Helin. He was the one who formed the firm in Poland, and ran and grew it successfully for more than 30 years. He was an exceptional enthusiast of spreading knowledge. He abided by the principle: if you have knowledge, share it!
Dr. Helin was an outstanding expert and recognized authority in the field of accounting and finance. A highly respected advisor, lecturer, author of numerous textbooks and fundamental publications that are a standard of Polish accounting. Doctor of economic sciences, Danish State Authorized Public Accountant, Polish Statutory Auditor. One of Poland’s few experts with Certified Public Accountant qualifications in two countries. He had extensive practical experience in working with financial institutions, Polish and international groups, listed companies, family businesses. Long-time member of the Auditing Standards Board of the National Chamber of Statutory Auditors. Advised the Monetary Policy Council and the President of the National Bank of Poland on the implementation of IAS at financial institutions.
Dr Andre Helin died suddenly on 19 December 2022. The role of BDO’s CEO and Managing Partner was taken over by Dr. Anna Bernaziuk (more in the CEO section).
